Here's a quick little tutorial on how you can take a photo of an ancestory and turn it into an old-timey looking drawing with a few keystrokes strokes in Photoshop.

Grave Book is having a grave photo contest on their Facebook page. Some amazing photos are coming in for this month! Worth just the look, but also gives me an urge to head up to the local cemetery and see what photos I can get tomorrow.

The National Institute for Genealogical Studies has launched a new social networking site for genealogists. The site, GenealogyWise is quickly becoming the new genealogy social network.

The site features forums and a live chat room. It also has a full range of courses from NIGS and many pages of interesting videos about family research.

Signing up for the site is quick, although they require both an email verification and place your account on hold for a short time while you are approved.

When Abby's signed up for an account we were approved within five minutes, and then could start browsing the site looking for research information.

On the new GenealogyWise site a member can join surname groups. As of the writing of this blog there are already hundreds of surnames being discussed.
